Governor Oyetola Names New Chief Press Secretary

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has appointed, Ismail Omipidan, a former deputy editor of politics at The Sun newspaper as his chief press secretary.

The announcement came minutes after the governor said his CPS Adeniyi Adesina had resigned.

Mr Adesina, who at the time of his appointment in December 2018, was the deputy news editor of The Nation newspaper, resigned to take up the role of the editor of The Nation.

According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Wole Oyebamiji, the appointment takes effect from August 5.

The statement said: “Until his appointment, Omipidan, 44, a native of Ila Orangun, was an Assistant Editor, in charge of Politics at The Sun Publishing Limited, Lagos.

“He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, and a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.

“He joined The Sun as a pioneer staff in 2003, as Senior Correspondent, from where he rose through the ranks to the position of an Assistant Editor.”
