Catholic priests in Enugu diocese have begun protesting the killing of their colleagues, the latest being the murder of Rev. Fr. Paul Offu.
Fr. Offu, who was the parish priest of St. James Greater Catholic Church, was killed by unknown gunmen on Thursday night along Ihe in Awgu Local Government Area of the state.
The killing of the priest comes barely five months after the parish priest of St. Mark Catholic Church, Obinofia Ndiuno, Rev. Fr. Clement Ugwu, was killed in Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state.
The police said on Friday that they have begun investigation on the incident.
The priests, however, believe their colleague was murdered by Fulani herdsmen as their placards suggest.
They marched to the Government House in their cassocks with placards reading “enough is enough”, “government should rise to defend Nigerians” and “Fulani Herdsmen should go”.
They also matched through the major streets in the state capital to the police headquarters.
