Police in Kano has gunned down a notorious armed robber at Rano Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by the state Police Command spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, “on the 26th July, 2019, a team of Policemen of Operation Puff-Adder attached to Police Area Command Rano were alerted that a gang of four (4) armed men attacked a residence in Rano Town.
“The team immediately rushed to the scene where they engaged the armed robbers in a gun duel. Luck ran against the hoodlums when the Puff-Adder Operatives with superior gunfire gunned down one of them, while the remaining 3 escaped into the nearby thick forest.
“On a hot chase, as they were retreating they abandoned a locally made Pistol with three (3) rounds of live Cartridges. It has to be reiterated, this gang has been terrorizing Rano, Kibiya, Bunkure, Tudun Wada along Falgore Forest Axis a while ago, before luck ran out against them and fell to the superior fire power and professionalism of Operation Puff Adder.
“The Command’s Commissioner of Police directed that the three (3) remaining fleeing suspects be timely tracked, identified, arrested and any exhibit(s) or arms in their possession be recovered.
“The Command therefore call on good citizens of the State to continue cooperating with the Police for timely and prompt rendition of information and intelligence on any form of crime and criminality across the length and breadth of the State for quick and timely response, please.”
