Abike Dabiri Criticises South African Police Over Assault On A Nigerian Man

Chairman/chief executive officer of Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has criticised the South African police for reportedly assaulting Big Brother Africa star, Tayo Faniran.

Faniran was reportedly assaulted by the officers while driving to a meeting for a discussion about his brand on Thursday.

His car was stopped by the officers who allegedly demanded to search his phone; the reality TV show star was said to have declined and was ordered to ride with the officers to a police station.

The actor confirmed his safety on Friday via Instagram.

He said: “Thank you all for your love and support, I’m fine now, there will be update Africa is still enslaved 🤞🏿.”

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said in a tweet on Friday that the case was taken up with the South African authorities by the Nigerian Mission in Johannesburg.

She described the police behaviour towards Faniran as ‘wrong’.

“Still on the incident involving ex Bbn star, Tayo. He is out Police net. Our mission in Joburg took it up with the authorities. They claimed he was rude and shouted at them immediately he was stopped. No matter, the Police behavior was wrong. We are trying to reach Tayo,” she said.
