Police in Lagos will arraign an American, Breedlove Shawn, on Friday after his arraignment on Thursday at Ogba Magistrates’ Court was stalled.Mr Shawn, 52, was brought to court at 3:00 pm but the arraignment could not hold.Shawn was reportedly accosted by airport officials on Wednesday for parking at a restricted area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
The American national was said to have reacted angrily by breaking his car key in the ear of a towing service official.
No reason was given formally for the shift in the arraignment, but a reliable source, who pleaded anonymity told newsmen, that Shawn was brought late.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the towing Company, Billafary Towing Service Limited, Lamidi Falekulo, had said the victim, Femi Banjoko, 32, was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja where surgery was performed on him.
“As they were struggling, I didn’t know how he managed to break the key in the worker’s ear. The Airport Police Command detained him and our staff was taken to LASUTH where they operated on him to remove the key,” he said.
