OH NO!!! Naval Warrant Officer Shot Dead By Gunmen in Edo State

Police in Edo said on Wednesday that suspected kidnappers have killed a naval warrant officer identified as Felix Akanbi.

The kidnappers were said to have attacked Mr Akanbi and seven other passengers traveling from Akwa-Ibom to Lagos en route Edo on Tuesday.

The gunmen, it was learnt, intercepted an 18-seater bus which the victims were travelling on at Ekiadolor and Ovia River Bridge along Benin-Lagos highway and opened fire on the bus.

Eight of the passengers including the deceased were selected and abducted into the bush.

Akanbi was said to have been shot dead as he was unable to walk fast.

The police rescued the seven victims alive and recovered the body of Akanbi after two hours search.

Edo police spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, said the police were still combing the bush in search of the kidnappers.

Mr Nwabuzor said the warrant officer was about to retire before his death.

The spokesman said the police would do everything to fish out the kidnappers.
