The vice chairmen, Philip Eguarojie and Godwin Eleduwa of Akoko-Edo and Orhionmwon local government areas of the state respectively have been sacked on Monday, July 8, Igbere TV reports.
The impeachment of Philip came after an ad-hoc committee submitted a report on an investigation into an allegation of misconduct against him. Councilors during plenary adopted the committee’s report.
Igbere TV had earlier reported that the government of Edo state had revealed that it would probe contracts awarded for construction of structures and supply of equipment to Benin Central Hospital under the administration of Adams Oshiomhole.
Igbere TV learnt that the probe was confirmed by Cruise Osage, special adviser to Edo governor on media and communication Strategy in a statement he issued on Sunday, July 7, in Benin. Osage said a commission of inquiry would soon be constituted to probe the contracts.
He said the probe became necessary following numerous calls on the government to look into the contracts in which billions of taxpayers’ money were expended on poorly executed projects under the regime of Oshiomhole.
