Senator Elisha Abbo has been granted bail in the sum of N5 million and two sureties in like sum.
Senior Magistrate Abdullahi Ilellah granted the lawmaker bail after his ‘not guilty’ plea on his arraignment at Zuba Magistrate Court, Abuja on Monday.
Ilellah also ruled that the sureties must have verifiable addresses within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Mr Abbo was arraigned on one count of assault by the FCT police after a video of him assaulting a woman at an adult toy shop in Abuja went viral.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker, representing Adamawa North at the National Assembly, had apologised in a press briefing last week for his actions.
It is believed that the video of the incident and his statement owning up to the incident would be used as evidence against him.
