The Nigerian Army says troops of 26 Brigade Garrison have killed two terrorists during their routine patrol around Wala village, Borno State.
According to a statement by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, they encountered the terrorists who attempted to ambush them.
They swiftly responded with heavy gunfire, thwarted the ambush, and exterminated two terrorists.
Subsequently, intelligence revealed that the terrorists were informed of the troops’ movement in order to use the opportunity to grab foodstuff and other items.
According to the army, further exploitation of the general area and beyond was undertaken with the troops of 121 Task Force Battalion dispatched to reinforce the 26 Brigade Garrison.
As they advanced, troops also discovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) concealed along their axis of advance.
The IEDs were successfully defused and cleared, the statement said.
