Gunmen have shot dead a lecturer at the Rivers State University, Prof. Emmanuel Amadi, Igbere TV reports.

Prof. Amadi was killed on Tuesday by suspected armed robbers.

Police in the state confirmed the killing on Thursday.

The incident was said to have occurred around 8 pm at Rumuolumeni in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
