Man Arrested For Vandalizing Cars At Nigerian High Commission in London (Photos)

A man identified as Jeffrey Ewohime has been arrested in London for vandalising seven cars at the Nigerian High Commission.

The 32-year-old was reportedly angry at his inability to collect his passport at the embassy despite arriving late and unable to provide the required collection slip.

Responding, chairman, Nigerians In the Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, condemned the act, saying such attitude was unpatriotic and an act of indiscipline.

Speaking through a statement by her media aide, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said confirmed that Mr Ewohime approached the embassy to collect his passport which expired in November 2017.

He arrived at about 2 pm and was told collection of passports would close at 1 pm.

”He then insisted on collecting his passport, and was told to bring his collection slip which he could not produce,” she said.

Embassy officials reportedly told him it wrong to hand over his passport to him without the collection slip.

Dabiri-Erewa said that Ewohime left agitated and returned from a nearby hotel to destroy about seven cars, five belonging to the mission, and two to visitors who parked nearby.

“His attempt to destroy the High Commissioner’s car failed as it is bulletproof.

“I am told that he had been arrested by the police.

”He destroyed seven brand new cars, except the Ambassador’s car which is bulletproof.

“This is a despicable act, which must be condemned by all. Of course, the law must take its course,” she added.

Dabiri-Erewa implored Nigerians abroad to exercise restraint and be good ambassadors of the country at all times in all circumstances.
