Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has ordered the State Anti-Corruption Commission to probe Kano Zoological Gardens where an accounts officer alleged that a gorilla swallowed N6.8 million, Igbere TV reports.
Mr Ganduje’s spokesman, Abba Anwar, made the order public in a statement on Sunday.
Ganduje asked the commission to look into the immediate and remote cause of the allegation.
News of the missing money broke on Friday after an accounts officer at the zoo alleged that a gorilla ‘swallowed‘ N6.8 million cash realised from gate fees during Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Police have begun investigation on the matter and were said to be questioning 10 persons as at Friday.
The zoo’s managing director, Umar Kashekobo, confirmed that money was missing but he did not give details.
