Unknown gunmen on Saturday, June 15 attacked a government-owned ambulance on the ever-busy Benin-Ore expressway, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV learnt that the ambulance was conveying some medical materials meant for treatment of Lassa fever when gunmen believed to be Fulani herdsmen attacked it.
According to reports, a white Toyota Hiace bus accompanying the ambulance and conveying some medical personnel, was also not spared.
It was alleged that two occupants of the bus, who are officials of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), were kidnapped in the process. We are, however, yet to confirm this as at press time.
Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the report, said details of the incident are still sketchy.
He said he only got to read it on the internet, adding that no formal complaint has reached the police command.
βI will get back to your team when I have the details,β Nwabuzor said. He was, however, yet to do so as at the time of filing this report.
His Ondo State counterpart, DSP Femi Joseph, on his part, said the incident did not happen in the state.
