The ninth senate have elected Senator Ovie Omo Agege as deputy senate president, with 68 to 37 votes, Igbere Tv reports.
The APC that control majority seats in the senate in the 9th national assembly. The governing party has zoned the senate president position to the Northeast region of the country has delivered their candidate Senator Ovie Omo Agege to emerge as the Depute senate President.
Sen. Ovie Omo Agege defeated his only rival Sen. Ike Ekweremadu of the PDP Senator representing Enugu West Constituency.
Recall that Senator Ike Ekweremadu reminded the house about armed invasion of the National Assembly last year leading to the theft of the Senate mace on his acceptance speech but that did not effect the vote as APC Senators decided to vote along party line.
