Senators-elect have elected Senator Lawan as senate President for the 9th Assembly with 79 to 28 votes

Senators Ali-Ndume and Ahmed Lawan were the two contenders for the position of the Senate Presidency.

About 107 Senators are in attendance at the inauguration of the National Assembly.
