Edo 2020: Obaseki Sacks LGA Appointees Loyal To Oshiomhole

The crisis rocking the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday, took a dramatic turn following the sudden sack of some political appointees, ahead of the 2020 governorship election.

Although the governor, Godwin Obaseki, has denied the cold war between him and his predecessor, the national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, findings by Igbere TV however showed a big rift between the duo.

On Thursday, the state government announced the sack of all political appointees in Egor Local Government Council, through the council boss, Mrs Eghe Ogbemudia.

Similarly, the Edo State House of Assembly, today, ratified the removal of Pastor Eleduwa from office, as Orhionmwon Council Vice Chairman.

No reason was given for the action, an impeccable source, however, told Igbere TV that the governor is determined to weed out non-loyalists ahead of the party’s primaries.

“Yes, it’s true that the governor ordered their sack. I can equally confirm that more will go in the weeks ahead, including Commissioners and Council Chairmen.

“The governor is hell-bent at getting his second term ticket, and he is not leaving any stone unturned in a bid to getting rid of Oshiomhole’s loyalists off his way,” an EXCO of the State APC, who craved anonymity, told Igbere TV.

Igbere TV learnt that Barr. Henry Idahagbon, a former Edo Attorney General and Co-converner of Edo Peoples Movement, the group championship for Obaseki’s removal, is a leader in Egor Local Government Council.

He had accused Governor Obaseki of failing to carry party leaders who made him governor along, among many other accusations.

There are also fears that the state government might sack all appointees perceived to be loyal to former governor Adams Oshiomhole, in the build up to the 2020 guber polls.
