Drama As Governor’s Wife Collapses During Children's Day Celebration

There was mild drama in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital during this year’s children’s day celebration with the first Lady, Dr. Racheal Dickson slumping halfway the event and sustaining injury on her lips, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV learnt that, the fall, which elicited shock, was however saved when the Government House medical team quickly rescued her.

Igbere TV gathered that the First Lady fell while trying to share foods and gift items to the Children invited into the Government House for the Children’s day celebration.

Igbere TV learnt that the event, which was organized by the office of the First Lady, was abruptly put off halfway while the First Lady was taken away by the medical team with a bleeding mouth cut.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the unfotunate incident happened while the first lady was personally distributing souvenirs to over 2,000 children during the celebration in Government House, Yenagoa.

The first lady’s decision to distribute the gift items was to ensure that every child present goes home with a gift item and this resulted to undue pressure on her.

The venue went rowdy following some of the children’s misbehavior having returned back to the single line to collect the second time after they have already collected but were discovered and driven away.

The situation was intense and the children were uncontrollable even with the presence of the first lady’s aides and this made the first lady who was sitting down to stand in order to change position and monitor the distribution.

In the process of changing her position to continue the distribution, a rope on the floor entangled her legs and the first lady fell down with her face hitting on the concrete and none of her aides were able to rescue her.

The governor’s wife was however raised up to her feet and supported to her car by some of her security aides and was alleged to have been driven to the government house clinic.

Journalists were barred by security agents from taking pictures or videoclips.

All efforts by our reporter to know the present condition of the number one woman of Bayelsa state proved abortive. But it was later learnt that the First Lady is in a good condition as at the time of filling this report.

Igbere TV gathered that, after the incident, the media aide to the governor’s wife made an unexpected announcement ordering the children who were remorseful to leave the Government House immediately or she will order the security officers around to flog them out.
