Police Rescue Two Kidnapped Chinese In Ogun
THE Police have rescued two Chinese Nationals – Shen Ximing and Wei Futang – from kidnappers in Ogun State.
Shen and Wei, who were last week kidnapped in Odeda in Odeda Local Government Area, regained their freedom after exchange of gunfire between the abductors and Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) operatives.They were kidnapped while working on a quarry site at Odeda, but were rescued about a week later They are recuperating at an undisclosed hospital
Acting police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi told reporters at the command’s headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta, that the expatriates were rescued on Wednesday.Oyeyemi, an Assistance Superintendent of Police, said a police team, comprising men of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and FSARS, were deployed to combat the abductors.
He added that the kidnappers abandoned the victims and took to their heels, following pressure piled up on them during a gun-battle at their hideout.The police spokesman added that the expatriates, who were rescued unhurt, have also been handed over to their company.
Also rescued by FSARS operatives, was 31-year-old Olabimpe Tejumola, who was abducted last Wednesday at Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.Oyeyemi appealed to citizens to stop the habit of paying ransom to kidnappers.
