Popular Nigerian singer, Enitimi Alfred Odom, better known as Timaya, has declared his support for Naira Marley.
Timaya likened the embattled singer, Naira Marley, to the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
He said that unlike many Nigerian musicians, who would pretend, Naira Marley showed courage in his single, “Am I Yahoo Boy.”
In a video he shared on Instagram page Saturday, Timaya took time to explain what the singer was actually talking about in the controversial song.
Naira Marley is currently cooling his feet in the cell of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and Timaya believes his song was misread by the anti-graft agency.
Timaya said, “A lot of people don’t understand what Naira Marley was speaking about.
“[He spoke] his own opinion regarding Nigeria’s economy and development.
“His opinion was that these Yahoo boys are doing a lot for Nigeria to grow, than our government.
“[This] is because the jobless youths try to create work for themselves even without the government building any factory.
“These boys make the money go round.
“[For instance], if politicians want to do shopping they go to Dubai and spend money there, in doing this they are boosting Dubai economy while these Yahoo boys bring the money into the country and invest so that money can go to the ordinary Nigerians who buy and sell in Nigeria.
“That’s why he spoke about the bloggers that they are armed robbers because they know.
“These are the things Naira Marley predicted for the future of Nigeria. Let’s watch out and see what will happen in the next few years, high rate of kidnappers, high rate of armed robberies, high rate of prostitution, high rate of suicidal.
“Naira Marley is the real musicians, he speaks his mind, he doesn’t pretend like others who come to the gram and deceive everybody and go behind to take money from the same people we think they are fighting us with.
“Naira Marley and falz are the real modern day of Fela ambitions.
“In conclusion of this, Maira Marley is not a Yahoo boy that’s why he sang ‘simi see trouble, am I a yahoo boy?”
