Almost immediately after Chelsea legend Petr Cech announced that he’d hang up his boots (gloves?) at the end of the season, there were rumors that he’d do what just about everyone would expect him to do: return to Chelsea in a non-playing capacity. Recently, strong rumours suggested that he would join up in some sort of technical role, perhaps as a long-overdue partial replacement for former director of football Michael Emenalo.
But before any of that can happen, he will have one more game to play for Arsenal. As fate would have it, it will be against Chelsea, on May 29, in Baku, Azerbaijan. If this were a movie, we would consider this lazy screenwriting.
“If somebody wrote the script for me, then that would probably be in it.”
“If you’re about to win a European trophy you have to beat any opponent anyway, so for me it would be an extra special game but regardless of that you want to win the trophy for yourself.”
“My dream is to go all the way to the final and play the last game in the final with a happy ending, with a trophy in my arm and a medal around my neck.”

This could get awkward. But we’ll surely let him hold the trophy once he re-joins in the summer, right?
