Former governor of Abia State and Senator-elect (Abia North), Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has denied saying that serving ministers made his party, the All Progressives Congress lose in the South East in the just concluded 2019 general elections.
The business mogul therefore called on the general public to disregard the “news” currently making rounds in the media, particularly online.
He was reacting to a report by an online platform (Not IGBERE TV) quoting him as saying that he had it on good authority that some party chieftains in the zone sabotaged genuine efforts of the party by aligning with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The the online platform had alleged that the former governor made the statement on Saturday in Enugu during the zonal stakeholders’ meeting of the party.
Reacting further, the Abia North Senator-elect said that the report is false, adding that he never at any point made the statement.
“The general public should disregard the news emanating from online platform. I never at any point stated that serving ministers made the APC lose elections in the Southeast. The statement is false in its entirety.
He, therefore, called on the management of the online platform to review the report, while calling on media outlets to be accurate in news reportage.
“The press should live up to its responsibility of accurate reportage. The management are advised to review the news post immediately,” Kalu added.
