Former Governor of Abia State and Senator-elect for Abia North Senatorial district, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu on Monday met with a former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki in Johannesburg.

Igbere TV had previously reported that Kalu, who clocked 59, was on Sunday surprised with a birthday bash in South Africa by popular online news medium, Igbere TV, friends and aides of the business mogul.

The meeting between the two African leaders, Igbere TV gathered, was to deliberate on issues affecting both countries especially civil unrests and the most recent xenophobic attack on Nigerians in South Africa.

Taking to Twitter at the end of the meeting, the former governor wrote;

“I had a fruitful meeting with the former President of South Africa, Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki in Johnesburg joined by my wife, Mrs Ifunanya Kalu. As leaders we both deliberated on pertinent issues especially ending civil unrests by promoting unity amongst all Africans.”

Igbere TV recalls that Kalu and his wife, Ifunanya, have been in South Africa since Thursday on a business trip.

They were on Monday night hosted to a dinner by His Excellency, Sir Chief Dr Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom.

Similarly, popular Nigerian pastor and president/founder of Believers Loveworld aka Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilomen on Sunday played host to the former governor in a special church service organized in his South African church, as part of activities to mark his (Kalu) 59th birthday.
