No Space for $3x Workers, Drug Dealers in Abia State, Ikpeazu Warms

The Abia State government has denied reports that it has reversed its earlier directive instructing hoodlums, commercial sex workers, drug dealers and other sundry criminals to vacate from brothels located along Calabar road, Arochukwu street and other locations within the Isi gate area of Umuahia.

This is contained in a statement signed by Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, PhD, Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Governor and sent to Igbere TV.

He directed commercial sex workers affected by this drastic measure to make themselves available for free vocational training offered by the state government.

He urged security agencies in the state to ensure a strict enforcement of this directive.

Public Service Announcement

The attention of Abia State Government has been drawn to reports that hoodlums, commercial sex workers and drug dealers who were previously dislodged from brothels located along Calabar road, Arochukwu street and other locations within the Isi gate area of Umuahia are gradually returning back to resume their unlawful activities.

We wish to state that at no time did Abia State Government reverse it’s earlier directive that they vacate the aforementioned areas and other similar places within Umuahia and environs.

Security agencies in the state, especially the police, are hereby directed to fully enforce the subsisting directive of the Governor as well as take additional measures to rid Umuahia, Aba and other towns in the state of criminal hide outs.

Commercial sex workers affected by this directive are expected to avail themselves of the FREE vocational training offered by the Government through the State Ministry of Women Affairs in conjunction with the Education for Employment unit of the government.
