However, it would be good to rub more powder on his excellency as we look into his simplicity in nature…
An old man woke up in the morning, if he was told a governor would feast with him someday, he would see it as ferry tales. But sure, that did happen….. A palm wine tapper, riding on his bicycle back from harvest with palm wine so sweet and fresh, is a living testimony as Orji Uzor Kalu pulled over his convoy to have the local taste. This singular act of Orji Kalu as a serving governor then, was electrifying, OUK did not only promote the old man’s local contents, he as well, did some philanthropic doings that he’s known for….
It was a shock to protocols then at the government house, Abia State, when OUK got set to go out but ordered his entourage to stand down and that included his personal driver. It was a trip to knowing what the people felt about his administration. At some points he visited, he would throw up discussions that followed arguments on if his administration is on the right track. The fun of this is, at the end, people would begin to place his face and the shout of “See OUK oo” would ring the air… The action governor in the midst of the common man, his subjects to feel their heart beats…
It was also on record how a woman frying beans balls (akara) at a popular junction, had experience with Okosisi, Orji Uzor Kalu… In his usual ways, driving himself without visible details, he stopped over to buy some akara and to also chat with the environment. He took some bites and was encouraged by the taste and ordered the old woman to give to people around, which she did… Asking her for the cost of what they ate, the old woman told H. E Orji Uzor Kalu it was #2000.00. Just like blessings comes in various ways, I must say, that woman was on that day remembered as Dr Orji Uzor Kalu gave her a pack of #20,000 naira. The old woman got scared and was shouting for people to come rescue her as she thought OUK was one of those rituallist. She screamed for people’s attention that all she needed was her #2000 naira and not #20,000 naira. As the crowd looked closely at this accused man, behold he was their action governor…. The crowd became uncontrollable as the old woman quickly grabbed her #20,000 naira blessing from her action governor OUK.and you can imagine the rest of the story….
Am sure his excellency would take it a smile as he remembers vividly these and more as they’re part of him.
The simplicity of OUK goes beyond imagined. With the wealth surrounding him, his humility and psychological approach to people is a unique qualities many in his shoes don’t have. How he manages his wealth with the things of God is a phenomenon too scarce to many of his status. Whoever comes around him are not only welcomed but feast with him on same table irrespective of class…
That is the man we celebrate today. Full of wisdom. There’s no moment I had with ouk that I failed to milk from him, wisdom that would propel me in the future. A man that believe everything is possible with efforts and consistency.
It would take long to attribute completely the articulates of our Distinguish Senator elect, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu as he marks 59 years today, a day marked also by the resurrection of our savior, Christ. One thing must not be forgotten by this divine meeting point with our risen Jesus as 2019 is a resurrection year for OUK to standing tall again in the political arena and do the works he’s destined to, for the good of his people….
