A 22-year-old Gambo Sa’idu of Badakoshi village in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State suspected to have killed his elder brother said he killed him in revenge over his son who had a misunderstanding with his late brother’s son.
The suspect admitting to killing his brother before the Magistrate court in Dutse, said he only attacked him to avenge for his son.
He explained that the incident started one day when two of their sons had an argument in a bush over a cow which led to a physical confrontation.
“My brother’s son beat up my son massively and when they came back home my, brother backed his son without taking any action over the incident,” he stated.
Sa’idu said he decided to make an inquiry over the incident where he met his brother’s son, but that his brother attacked him with a stick, forcing him to defend himself with the available thing in his hand.
“He attacked me with a stick and out of anger I defended my self with a machete in my hand and it accidentally landed on his neck,” he stated.
Sa’idu also admitted committing the offence, pleading with the court to have mercy on him as he committed the offence unintentionally and regretted his action.
