Gov. Udom Inspects 21 Storey CBD Towers, Speaks on National Policy on IOCs (Photos)

Governor Udom Emmanuel has spoken on the need for a national policy that will ensure that International Oil Companies and other multinationals have offices and bases in their area of operations, Igbere TV reports.

Governor Emmanuel was speaking in Uyo, after assessment of the progress of work at the 21 story Intelligent building currently on it’s 20th floor at the Central Business district.

He said it was sad that while the areas of operation bore the impact of exploration of the IOCs other states where their headquarters are located were receiving revenues from them.

The state’s Chief Executive said the narrative for the intelligent building is to encourage and create an enabling environment for the IOCs operating in the state to relocate to a comfortable base and expressed the hope that the building will be completed and commissioned before the end of 2019.

Igbere TV correspondent in Uyo reports that Governor Emmanuel lauded the contractor for adhering to standards and the Supervising Ministry- Special Duties and Aviation Development for their role in the progress of the work.

He also commended the host community for their peaceful disposition towards the project and reiterated his administration’s commitment not to let down the confidence reposed in them by Akwa Ibom people.

The Governor was shown round the facility by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Aviation Development, Mr Akan Okon, whose ministry superintends over the project.

Mr Akan Okon said the visit and assessment of progress on the intelligent building was a demonstration of the Governor’s passion for the project.

He said while all standard procedures are strictly upheld in the project, the deadlines for it’s delivery will still be met.

While explaining some of the proposed component of the building, Mr Okon said there was provision for just one bank within the facility since the area already had several banks in close proximity.

The governor and his entourage were welcomed to the facility with various inscriptions on placards by the workers and villagers congratulating him for his success in the just concluded elections and chants of ” Only God”.
