A former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Tsav Stephen, who recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has escaped assassination attempt on his life by a group of hired assassins on Friday morning, Igbere TV reports.
Sources told Igbere TV that trouble started when one Police Officer, Timothy Igba and three others drove to Tsav’s house in a Golf car, exchanged pleasantries and sat down with other party loyalists.
Eye witnesses told Igbere TV that one of the officers sneaked to the backyard and dropped a gun behind the kitchen house, apparently to be picked up later, when it became clearer to them that the number of people in Tsav’s house were becoming too crowdy to carry out their mission.
It was Tsav’s son who sighted the gun behind the kitchen house and raised the alarm.
It was learnt that two of four of the officers were apprehended, while the other two who were already sitted in the car managed to zoom off.
The culprits were taken to C Division North Bank Makurdi where they allegedly confessed that the assignment was given to them by a politician.
