Following a derogatory statement credited to Abia state Commissioner for Information, Mr. John Okiki Kalu and published on social media platforms, on the person of former Governor of Abia State and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Abia North Senatorial district, Dr. Orji Kalu, former Chairman of Arochukwu LGA, Hon. Chibuike Jonas has advised the Commissioner to guide his tongue, Igbere TV reports.
According to the politician, the Commissioner as a political appointee, should have exhibited decorum in responding to issues on behalf of his paymaster.
He berated Abia state government for appointing people of low class into leadership positions, stressing that the Commissioner had a poor upbringing from childhood.
The former Chairman, who said he was not surprised that the political appointee could make negative utterances against Kalu, pointed out that the outburst of the Commissioner shows that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia state is jittery of the robust acceptance of the APC across the state.
While admonishing the Commissioner not to heat the polity with unguided utterances and blackmail , the former chairman stressed that no amount of falsehood and hate campaign will make Abians fall victim of election manipulation, which is a known antic of the PDP.
Addressing youths in Arochukwu at the weekend , Jonas said, “it is only in Abia state that light weights and political liabilities are appointed as commissioners.
” If only the Commissioner was brought up properly by his parents, he wouldn’t have insulted Kalu.
“I don’t just understand why there is no longer decorum in the politics of Abia state.
” I am only sending a warning to the Commissioner to leave Kalu alone otherwise face the consequences.
” The PDP during the last administration used the then presidency to short-change the will of Abians.
“I recall, when the PDP was in control at the centre, their chieftains in Abia state with the support of the federal government, disenfranchised Kalu by blocking his Igbere countryhome with armoured personnel manned by the military on election day despite being a candidate.
“The time is now to bring change to Abia state.
” The PDP candidate for Abia North senatorial race, Mao Ohuabunwa knows that he has lost the election and that is why his hungry and jobless cohorts are crying foul”.
The former Chairman called on security agencies to place the deputy governor of Abia state under close watch, as his homestead, Etitiama Nkporo in Ohafia LGA is popularly known as the rigging spot of the PDP, adding that the APC will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring victory for its candidates.
