Report reaching IGBERE TV has it that a 19-year old boy identify as Opeyemi Sunday has landed in court following an attempted sexual assault on an older woman.
IGBERE TV gathered that Opeyemi Sunday, a resident of Solomon Okonkwo Street, Egbeda invaded the apartment of the victim, a 34 years old woman to forcefully have carnal knowledge of her but failed in his mission after a shout for help by the victim.
The victim who preferred her name unmentioned stated that Sunday made an attack on her, pushed her to the ground and violently used his fist on her face to get his mission accomplished.
She also claimed that she failed to find her mobile phone after the incident, stating that the suspect went away with it after neighbours came for her rescue.
The matter was reported to the police who arraigned the offender at the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for trial.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, did not oppose his being granted bail but asked the court for a date of hearing.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T. O. Shomade, granted him bail in the sum of N30,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Shomade disclosed that Sunday wouldn’t face trial for rape as he failed to penetrate the complainant but would still be charged for assault. He adjourned the matter till February 13, 2019.
