A group of retired senior police officers have thrown their full weight behind the candidate of All Progressives Congress , APC, for Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, in the 2019 election, Mascot Uzor Kalu. The police senior citizens declared their stance when they paid a courtesy visit to Mascot at his campaign office located at Park Road, Aba on Tuesday, Igbere TV reports.
In his remarks, the spokesperson of the August visitors, ASP Elieza Ezuruike (rtd), who spoke on behalf of other members, said the good works of Mascot in areas of youth empowerment and his human gesture, informed their decision to adopt him as their candidate for the upcoming election. He said though professional ethics restrict them from partisan politics, they had no option than to tow the path of wisdom and conscience and support the APC candidate who had exhumed them from their hideouts with his honest promises.
Expressing their confidence further, Mr Ezuruike frowned at the magnitude of negligence Aba, the supposed commercial nerve center of the South East, is facing, despite the huge human and material resources therein. He expressed gratitudes for the honour done to them by the APC hopeful, even as he pledged loyalty of all retirees of the Nigerian Police in support of Kalu and other APC candidates in Abia state.
Speaking earlier in his welcome address, Mascot Uzor Kalu (Nwa Aba) reemphasized his passion for the well-being of Aba. He said being born at Aba made the city his first home. And speaking with newsmen shortly after the meeting, the former Chief of Staff at the Abia government house reaffirmed his commitment to attract the desired federal government projects if given the opportunity to represent the people. He said he was by nature, a human investor, saying the welfare of the citizens was the primary role of every government. He said a lot of functional facilities in the state have deteriorated as a result of abandonment by the government. Mascot said having failed the people severally, those representing the state at all facets of government had no business going back as the People’s representatives.
