The restraining order against the continuation of the trial of chief justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, has been extended to January 28 by an Abuja division of the Federal High Court.
The order was given by the presiding judge, Justice NE Maha, after Onnoghen’s counsel told the court on Thursday, January 17, that his client had not been served.
Igberetvnews gathers that the court ordered that the respondent be served a fresh service of the court summons, adding that the date of service should be included in the proof of service before the next hearing.
Justice Maha ordered a fresh service of the court summons to the respondents and asked that the date of service be included in the proof of service before the next hearing.
The judge ruled that the order for parties to maintain status quo still stands.
This means that the trial of the chief justice of Nigeria scheduled to continue on Tuesday, January 22 at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), may have to be suspended, pending further directives.
