Celebration and joy as teenage street hawker who had spent 2 years in prison after he was falsely accused of a crime he did not commit regains his freedom, IgbereTv reports.
Igbere TV newsmen learnt that the young man identified as John Ogbonna was falsely accused of armed robbery and remanded in Ogwashi Uku prison in Delta state for two years.
After thorough investigation by Behind Bars Initiative (BBI), it was learnt that the young man was innocent of the charges labelled against him by the Delta state police command.
It was gathered by IgbereTv reporters that the young man had a misunderstanding with a motorist while he was selling wrist watches along Okpanam road in Asaba and the man reportedly used SARS to lock him up.
John celebrated his release with the BBI team shortly after regaining freedom.
