Shocks as A'Ibom Police Commissioner Boycotts Armed Forces Heroes Event

The Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo stunned Akwa Ibom people on Monday when he shunned the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem Appeal Fund Launch, Igbere TV reports.

The event, an annual national ritual to mark the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration was held at the Governor’s Office Annex in Uyo.

Mr. Kimo was conspicuously absent eventhough all other service chiefs in the state put up spirited appearances to remember the unsung military heroes.

Mr. Kimo whose posting to Akwa Ibom was greeted with widespread celebration by members of the APC, has been allegedly fingered as being antagonistic to the government of Akwa Ibom State, hence always towing the line of the APC supporters.

It would be recalled that Mr. Kimo allegedly partnered with five sacked lawmakers to invade the state Assembly, attempting to undermine the powers of the constitutional authorities.

He also recently arrested the state Assembly clerk Mrs Mandu Umoren and the Cashier for not paying the imprests of the five former members of the state legislature.

His action was said to have sparked widespread condemnation as people feel he is out to play the APC agenda at the expense of the integrity of the state government.

At the Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem Launch, the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel maintained that his administration remains dedicated to the welfare of legionnaires in Akwa Ibom.

The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo, acknowledged their sacrifices in fighting to defend the peace and unity of the nation.

This year’s event had as the theme, “TEAMED FOR DEFENCE” and the police commissioner who was said to have been invited officially, failed to attend and sent no representation
