Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Azubuko Udah has said that Abia North Senatorial zone cannot afford a senator to represent it again. It will be a misnomer, he said, should this happen.
Speaking at Ovim in Isuikwuato Local Government of Abia State when the campaign train of former governor of Abia state and the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Abia North, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu visited the area, Udah said the zone has suffered in the past four years due to poor representation.
According to Udah, “Abia North does not need at this point in time who will go to the senate just for the constitutional requirement, or to go there to sleep, but someone like Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who has both national and international connections.
“When Kalu was governor, he was nicknamed action governor by a former president one can hardly satisfy, if he is voted into the upper chamber, Kalu will become an action senator”.
Going further to tell the people why the former governor should be voted for, Udah said, ” Despite the merger funds his government received when he was governor, he performed creditably.
“Kalu has shown what he can do if elected senator. Presently, he has attracted over 30 roads for reconstruction by the Federal Government in Abia North and one wonders what will happen if he becomes a senator”.
Udah urged the people to vote for Kalu in masse.
Addressing the cheering crowd, Kalu said when he was governor, Local Governments used to award contracts and paid contractors, but said it was not so again.
He regretted that despite the various bailout funds the Federal Government released to the state, Abia Government has not been able to pay workers and pensioners.
He urged the people to vote for APC which he said will not only make sure that workers salary are paid on good time, but will also provide infrastructures for Abians.
