A former governor of Abia State and Senatorial candidate in the 2019 general election, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has accused the incumbent governor of the state, Gov. Ikpeazu, of embezzling bail out funds meant for the state.
Dr. Kalu is contesting to represent the people of Abia North in the Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Abia North Senator hopeful disclosed this at a town hall meeting with members of Akanu Item community in Bende local government area of the state.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari had released over N10bn as bail out funds for the state.
He added that instead of the governor to utilize the funds for what it was meant for, he connived with the cabals, converted and embezzled it completely.
He called on the people of Abia to reject Gov. Ikpeazu as governor come 2019, adding that “Uche Ogah has come to the rescue.”
He said, “My people of Akanu Item, we must all reject liars and debtors in our state in the next general elections. Come February 16 and March 2, vote massively for the APC. You won’t see my pictures on the ballot, you will only see the party (APC) with the broom logo, put your thumbs there.
“Remember that these people are liars and debtors, you must all reject them. Buhari gave them over N10bn as bail out funds yet they embezzled it. Do you want these set of people to continue leading you? 2019 present us yet another opportunity.
“Vote Uche Ogah as Governor come March 2, 2019. Put your thumbs on the APC logo. Don’t go there looking for his pictures or name, you won’t find it there. Remember broom is the logo.
“Vote APC (Buhari) for President, vote APC for Governor, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assemblies,” he said.
Responding, the people of Akanu Item thanked the former governor for finding time to familiarize with them, saying “we have all resolved to vote massively for APC in the elections.”
