A former Governor of Abia State and APC Candidate for Abia North Senatorial District in the 2019 general election, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has faulted the incumbent governor of the state, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, for collecting billions of naira monthly as federal allocation and having nothing to show for it.
This was as his campaign train stormed Uturu community in Isukwuato local government area of the state, as part of electioneering activities in the build up to the 2019 polls.
He noted that most of the roads in Abia today are projects of the Buhari-led government and not that of the state government.
He called on the people of Abia to ask Gov. Ikpeazu what he was using the billions of naira monthly federal allocation for.
“When I was the governor of this state (Abia), I never received up to N1bn from the federal government as monthly allocation. When T. Orji came in as governor, he was receiving over N2bn monthly, and today, governor Ikpeazu is receiving over 4.7bn but yet, he has nothing to show for it.”
The Abia North Senator hopeful described the governor as weakling, adding that he has no capacity as a sitting governor, “he is not directly in charge of the affairs of the state but the cabals are. They are sitting down in their rooms and running down the state”
He called on the people of the state to vote massively for President Buhari and APC candidates in 2019, adding that “this will attract accelerated growth to the state.”
