Traditional rulers from Alayi, Item, Ugwueke, Ezeukwu and Igbere communities in Abia State, Thursday, paid a solidarity visit to former Governor of Abia State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Abia North Senatorial district , Dr. Orji Kalu.The royal fathers, who were led to the Igbere countryhome of the former governor by their Chairman and Eze Okoko of Item, HRH Jerry Okpala expressed appreciation to God for keeping the APC chieftain alive despite rumours of his death.
The monarchs, while pledging their support for the senatorial ambition of Kalu, thanked the former governor for sustaining his humanitarian gestures, added that the antecedents of the APC chieftain in the business and political circles are worthy of commendation.In his brief remarks, Kalu stressed that he had every cause to thank God for life after a major surgical operation in Germany.Kalu noted that as an advocate of peace, he had forgiven his political enemies, many of whom he had played a key role in their lives.
The former governor said, ” in this new year, I bear no grudge against anyone.”2019 is a year of forgiveness and reconciliation and as such, Nigerians must imbibe the spirit of forgiveness.” I am humbled with the show of love and support from Nigerians during my medical vacation abroad”.Kalu, while highlighting the laudable achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari especially in the South East, the former governor urged traditional rulers to sensitize the people on the various infrastructural projects executed by the federal government in their domains. The APC chieftain, who took a bow before each of the traditional rulers, promised to sustain his good works, emphasising that his desire to seek a seat in the red chamber is borne out of the clarion call for a responsive and robust representation for the people of Abia North Senatorial zone.
