Things appear to be falling apart and the center can no longer hold in Akwa Ibom All Progressives Congress following a rift between the former minority leader in the Senate and ex governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the party’s governorship candidate Nsima Ekere.

The squabbles which reportedly started as a result of misunderstanding over N7.2b campaign funds seems to have degenerated, and insiders say only a presidential intervention may be able to calm the situation.

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected in the state on 28th December to kick off his campaign in the state and this is one of the issues he is expected to address.
