Igbere Cultural Festival, Platform for Cultural Promotion - Kalu

As preparations are in top gear for the 2nd edition of “Igbere Cultural Festival”, an initiative of Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation (OUKF), Secretary of the foundation, Revd. (Mrs) Jemimah Kalu, has urged Nigerians at home and abroad to be proud of their culture.According to Mrs Kalu, who is also the Director-General of OUK Movement, the upcoming festival will serve as a platform to show the world the traditional and cultural roots of various ethnic groups in the country.

While noting that the event will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Nigerians, she called on government and other prominent Nigerians to complement efforts of non-governmental organizations in promoting the cultural assets of the country.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday with a group of Nigerians based in United Kingdom, United States of America and Canada, who returned to the country to be part of the annual event, Mrs Kalu stressed that the 2019 edition of the cultural fiesta will bring stakeholders in the tourism, hospitality, entertainment, international community and other sectors under one roof to appreciate and celebrate the cultural diversity of Nigeria. She said, “as we are approach the new year, we are leaving no stone un-turned to ensure that the 2019 Igbere Cultural Festival will surpass the 2018 maiden edition.

“The event will be hosted by the OUKF, with the financial support of Dr. Orji Kalu, who is also the brain behind the project.

“The initiative is borne out of Kalu’s belief in a united and indivisible Nigeria.

“The event was conceptualized by the former governor, who is known to be a highly detribalized Nigerian.

“From his business to politics, Kalu gives equal opportunities regardless of religious, ethnic and political divides.

“The 2019 cultural ceremony will serve as a platform to strengthen peace and unity among all ethnic groups in Nigeria.

The event which is slated to hold on January 2, 2019, at the Pavilion of Camp Neya in Igbere , Abia State will have in attendance first-class traditional rulers, top rated artists, politicians, tourists diplomats, the organized private sectors and policy makers.
