A Director General of the All Progressives Congress, APC Campaigns in Akwa Ibom state, Mr Nsidibe Udodung has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for complicity in kidnappings and other acts of criminality in the state.
The jail term was handed down this Tuesday by a Judge of the Abak High Court, Justice Ezekiel Enang of Abak Division.
Udodung who hails from Etim Ekpo Ward 5, is the Campaign Director General of the member representing Abak Federal constituency, Mr Emmanuel Ekon
It was reported that Udodung was arrested for kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap and arraigned in the High Court, Abak where he was found guilty of the act.
He was accused of kidnapping Chief Victor Ekpoudo, brother to DIG Udom Ekpoudom in 2010.
Although the victim later died, the case was still lingering in court with his candidate Emmanuel Ekon of the Abak Federal Constituency, allegedly doing everything to frustrate it.
Both Ekon and Ekpoudom are APC chieftains from Etim Ekpo local government.
When contacted, a former chairman of the area, Hon.Uduot Jack of the Peoples Democratic Party said it was good riddance for such threats to peace and security in his local government area.
Mr Jack said that the judgement which he tagged victory for justice, meant that there was no hiding place for criminal elements who run to go and hide in APC.
“Udoidung has been threatening that he will cause great havoc during the 2019 elections. We are happy that the law has caught up with him,” Jack added.
