Tension in AsoRock as Reps Begin Collation of Signatures for Impeachment
Report reaching Igbere TV newsroom indicates that the House of Representatives have commenced impeachment process against the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
A reps member, Hon. Johnson Agbonayinma, representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, Edo State, alleged that some members are collating signatures with the aim of impeaching the Vice-President.
Agbonayinma made the allegation while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.
The lawmaker said, “Some political gladiators and media houses” were sponsoring fake news against Osinbajo.
“Signatures are being collated for the impeachment of the vice-president, the reason being the outcome of the NEMA investigation,” the lawmaker said.
“There are political gladiators trying to heat up the polity. I enjoin them to do only those things that will promote unity and happiness of our great country.
“I urge all of us not to heat the polity as elections draw nearer. Our campaign must be driven by issues and not on vendetta politics. We are more united as a people with love and service to humanity.”
Agbonayinma, however, failed to name those behind the campaign against the Vice-President, saying they include disgruntled members of the All Progressives Congress.
The House had probed the activities of the National Emergency Management Agency in the North-East, during which it indicted Osinbajo and the Director-General of the agency.
The development is reportedly causing some uneasiness within the presidency.
