The community leader of Umunwanwa in Diaspora UK, David Uzosike laments the pipeline is likely to cause a hazard in a human population, which is conceptually expressed as the product of two factors: the probability of exposure and the severity of the consequences
In a press release which was obtained by IGBERE TV correspondents, David Uzosike calls on the federal government to intervene in the exposure of the two parallel pipelines before it causes more damages. The statement Read in parts:
“I need to bring the attention of our federal and state governments to a disaster waiting to happen in Umunwanwa Abia State”.
“The picture above shows two highly pressured pipes that runs through my village Umunwanwa to the rest of Nigeria. It transports the much needed fuel to the rest on Nigeria. These two pipes were buried deep in the group several years ago. Following a failed and abandoned road work ( Achingala Mgbarakuma Road), several years ago, the pipes are now exposed due to year of erosion menace”.
“Bearing in mind what happend to innocent people of Abia State recently where similar exposed pipes wiped out an entire Comuninity, should we continue to ignore the significant risk posed to the entire community of Umunwanwa by these pipes”?
“At this time of national mourning for the loss of over 150 people in Osisiom Ngwa, my question is, do we have to wait until similar explosion destroys my good people of Umunwanwa before we intervene? Have we learnt front the error in Ossisioma or do we have to wait for Umunwanwa disaster”?
“Please my people do it today not tomorrow our people are pleading for their health and safety.
God bless” The statement concluded.
