A lady (Name Withheld) who is a sales member in a mobile shop located at Victoria Island, Lagos state, narrated her Ordeal after beaten mercilessly by the Nigerian soldiers from Bonny camp along Ahmadu Bello, Victoria Island. A Lady who explained to IGBERE TV that the soldier who his identity “Tag” identified his name as Abubakar D, and others beats her mercilessly on her way to work around eight AM in the mourning, purposely for questioning their reckless drive which resulted to going against the traffic rules.
IGBERE TV gathered that she sustained severe injuries from the unjust maltreatments by the soldiers. It happened that a Gulf car with plate number, LSD Seven Three Eight DL, carrying the soldiers nearly killed her on her way to work as she tried to cross the road side.
Sharing her Ordeal with IGBERE TV, she said thus; “I was about to cross the road whena car came from nowhere and almost killed me.” I narrowly escaped been “Hit” by the speeding Gulf. I angrily questioned the soldiers to know where they are rushing that they almost killed me due to their reckless drive. Although I didn’t know who was in the car until they packed and came down from the car.
They were 4 soldiers in number, 1 woman and 3 Men. They came down from the car shouting “Are You Stupid”? Okay, you are saying I am stupid for questioning your reckless drive that could have resulted to my death?, I responded to them angrily as I was still filled with fear in me, wondering what could have been my condition if I was hit by the car, so they started beating me with no symptom of mercy.
After the incident, I went to Bonny camp (Military Barracks) so as to report the soldiers to the higher ranked personnel’s but I was denied access to entrance by other soldiers who told me that “I don’t have any right to come inside the Barracks to reporting any good or bad activities of the soldiers” she further explained.
“I cannot be beaten by soldiers who were meant to protect my life in my country just because I was trying to correct their mistakes by questioning their reckless drive that nearly resulted to my death.” She lamented angrily.
Many people have also lamented to the ill maltreatments from soldiers in Bonny camp, revealing that they are only good in maltreating civilians. The spokesperson for 81 Division, Bonny camp, Lt. Col. Laolu Daodu have been called severally, but he failed to pick the calls and also to reply some text massages sent to him.
