These are the worst times for Lagos state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode as the seat of Lagos state governor slips irretrievably from his hands by the seconds and despite all he has done lately to save his seat, nothing seems to be working.
An impeccable a source at the Lagos State Government House in Alausa has revealed to IGBERE TV that the Governor recently became emotional and wept uncontrollably over his unsavory predicament.
Our source further revealed that Ambode has been moody and dejected since 10th September, after he picked up the APC governorship nomination form.
Everything was seemingly going on fine and Ambode was visibly cruising to his second term unopposed, at least from his party APC, until that fateful day. Two ex Commissioners in the state, Obafemi Hamzat and Jide Sanwoolu, shocked the governor as they picked up their respective nomination forms on the day Ambode was acquiring his, throwing the race for Lagos government house wide open.
In fact, from all indications, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu has emerged the ‘anointed candidate’ of the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu and a clique of APC kingmakers in Lagos who have reportedly positioned him to unseat Ambode during a primary election exercise slated for September 29, 2018.
When Sanwoolu formally declared for Ambode’s seat on Sunday, September 16, 2018, all of Bola Tinubu’s loyalists in Lagos, including Senator Gbenga Ashafa who represents Lagos East in the upper legislative chamber, were in the audience to cheer him on with chants of “incoming, incoming!”
Also recently, all 57 council chairmen in Lagos publicly endorsed Sanwoolu, making it almost impossible for Ambode to win the party’s primaries, which unlike previous regimes, will be based on direct voting against the usual delegates voting.
