BCA: Why We Embarked on Protest - NUJ, RATTAWU, NUPSRAW

Press release

On Tuesday 4/9/18 the entire staff of BCA gathered to express their displeasure and protest the non payment of their April 2015 salary which pre-dates the current administration of Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and the capping/slashing of their monthly salaries.

For the records we wish to make the following clarifications:

1. That apart from the inherited April 2015 salary, the staff of BCA are not owed salaries arrears.

2. That the issue of capping/slashing BCA salaries(from September 2015 till date) is being addressed by the Abia State government through the Commissioner for Information and Commissioner for Finance to the satisfaction of all parties.

3. That the protest was resolved before 12 noon of 4/9/18 with every member of staff of the BCA back to work in service of our beloved state.

4. We wish to categorically state that anybody or group trying to mis-represent, mis-interpret or politicize this struggle is on their own.

We therefore wish to pledge our continuing loyalty and total commitment to the current labor friendly administration in the state, led by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Solidarity forever!

Signed

Joseph Nji
