According to reports, the legacies of the state governor, David Nweze Umahi, were destroyed by aggrieved person (s) following political tension in the state.

President Mohammadu Buhari on November 14th, 2017, commissioned the statue of Late father and leader, Late Ezeogo Dr. Akanu Ibiam in Ebonyi.
While unveiling the statue, Buhari recalled on the numerous achievements of Late Dr. Akanu Ibiam and called on our leaders to follow in his footsteps in bringing meaningful development to the people.
The building of the statue of Late Dr. Akanu Ibiam, was said to be a major highlight and a deserving recognition of his great and numerous achievements in Ebonyi State, the whole Eastern States and beyond.
