Biafra: Ebonyi People Goes Traditional, Celebrate And Paints New Yam Festival In Biafra Color ( SEE PHOTOS)

The new yam festival in Biafraland ( Orureshi in the idoma area, Iwa ji, Iri ji or Ike ji, depending on dialect) is an annual cultural festival by the Igbo people held at the end of the rainy season in early August or Late July.

The Iwa ji festival (literally “new-yam eating”) is a practiced  which symbolizing the conclusion of a harvest and the beginning of the next work cycle.

EbonyiDaily Understands that The celebration is a very culturally based occasion, tying individual Igbo communities together as essentially agrarian and dependent on yam.

In This year New Yam eating/ festival The people of Ezza in Ebonyi central senatorial district in Abakaliki province celebrated their new yam festival on Thursday 26, 2018 in a grand style as they paints the new yam in Biafra Color to show support for the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB Ideology in Biafra restoration.

 Unlike never before, elderly men of the Communities constituted Shrine and prayed fervently for the progress of Biafra.(this act is called Igor ofor in Igbo tradition)

After the new yam eating, the villagers troops out and rally the whole community with Biafra flags singing and praising Nnamdi Kanu for bringing love and togetherness among them .
