A chemistry teacher who seduced a teenage pupil into having sex with her in her car has been jailed. Tiffany Geliga, 36, was sentenced to five-and-a-half years for twice romping with the student. Geliga, who taught at Port St Lucie High School in Florida, was arrested after she admitted having sex with the 17-year-old victim during a police sting.
US cops listened in on a conversation between the pupil and Geliga, who bragged about their trysts.
The mum-of-four was then arrested and taken into custody.
Initially Geliga said she did not know the boy’s age and that he was a dual-enrolled student.
But, following further cross-examination, she then admitted she knew it was illegal for a teacher to have sex with a pupil.
Judge Gary Sweet said during the sentencing: “If the genders were reversed, everybody would be thinking this was automatic”.
Sweet also ordered Geliga to serve two years of sex-offender probation following her release from prison and surrender her teaching licence
