A chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia state Sir Chikwe Udensi has called on parents and the government to put all necessary modalities in place to ensure that the children are well grounded today for the task of leadership tomorrow.
In a statement signed by the gubernatorial aspirant and made available to IGBERE TV, he warned that anything short of this could be a recipe for a bleak future for them and a catastrophe for the society.
“As the euphoria of the children’s day remains on its high swing, we parents and indeed the government must not lose sight of the fact that we must sufficiently equip our children today for the task of leadership tomorrow since it’s no more in doubt that they are the leaders of tomorrow.
“We must strive to protect them from harms and dangers at all times. We must nurture and nourish them physically, emotionally and spiritually. We must ensure that the right nutrients are administered to them, the right training given to them and the right counseling offered to them.
“The government must do more to ensure that education is free and accessible to these younger offsprings of ours. A situation where millions of our children roam the streets idle is invitation for a bleak future for them and a catastrophic tomorrow for the entire system.
“Every child is a priceless gift from God and must be treated with the much needed honour, respect and dignity irrespective of where they are from”.
The International security Consultant also promised a better welfare package for children when he takes over leadership as Abia governor in 2019. “These are challenges we in APGA are poised to dealing with when we come on board in 2019. No Abia child we be on the street hawking during school hours. No Abia child will be leased off for trade. We will ensure efficient transportation system to and fro school for them. A decent home grown feeding system that will keep them focused and happy will be rolled out and their future will be protected”.
He enjoined Abians to keep hope alive, stressing that a better future for the state is certain.
