2019: Okorocha is a Betrayer, Not Welcomed in APGA- BoT Member

A member of Board of Trustees (BOT) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, has declared embattled Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, political betrayer and persona non-grata in APGA.

The APGA chieftain made the declaration while reacting to speculations that Okorocha was scheming to return to the party in a bid to install his son-in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu, as the next governor of Imo State.

He regretted that Okorocha, who won the governorship of Imo State under the platform of APGA, later abandoned the party to join the All Progressives Congress, (APC) was allegedly trying to bribe his way back to the party.

According to him, “now that his APC is not in support of his plan to install his son- in -law to succeed him, he wants to make u-turn to the party that made him the Governor of Imo state and we say no that we cannot accept him.

“We have to reject him and pay him back in his own coin for betraying APGA. Okorocha is a betrayer; he betrayed APGA and caused irreparable damage. I doubt if he can fool APGA a second time. He succeeded in the first fooling but second fooling cannot work, APGA is not composed of foolish people”.

The APGA trustee said that Okorocha wants to introduce family dynasty to Igbo land and bring governance into his family by installing his son- in -law the next governor.

“Igbos have not attained that stage where governance will become family dynasty, it has not happened anywhere in Igbo land. Okorocha cannot start it for us, we used to hear this as moonlight tales. Igbos cannot allow such selfish and foolish thing to happen. Imo State is too big for him to try what he wants to do, he will not succeed”, he warned.

Meanwhile, the chairman of APGA in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Chief Felix Madubuagwuibeya Obunadike, has said that the party has no business with imposition of candidates.

Obunadike made the disclosure while reacting to speculation in some quarters that the APGA leadership have anointed a candidate for Idemili South House of Assembly.

Describing the rumour as untrue, he said: “There is no anointed candidate or sacred cow for APGA in Idemili South Local Government Area. We treat everybody equal, I stand by my word and anybody who wants to be anointed should look for some other place like APC where Rochas Okorocha has anointed his son- in- law, Uche Nwosu, to succeed him.

“There is level playing ground for all aspirants and anyone of them who emerges as the winner during the primaries we will support en mass,” he stated.

He urged Hon Deacon Okolo Ikechukwu Okadigbo, an aspirant to the Anambra State House of Assembly to represent Idemili South constituency, who came to inform the party members of his intension, not to be disillusioned by the rumour.

Earlier, while addressing the APGA faithful, the aspirant lamented that most lawmakers both in the national and state houses of assembly, always abandoned those who gave them the mandate to represent them, assuring: “If I get there, I will give you proper representation, I will provide dividends of democracy to my people, I will not abandon them like most lawmakers currently serving in both state and at the national levels are doing”.

He said that he should be allowed to represent the constituency having served the party in so many capacities and achieved a lot for the people.

“I was a former PA to Hon Charles Odedo, a House of Representatives member for Idemili Federal constituency. I was a former councilor, Nnobi Ward II, former candidate House of Representatives for Idemili Federal constituency and former Idemili Government Youth Leader,” he stated.

He regretted that the lawmakers were not able to live up to expectation of the people despite huge sums of money they collect as constituency fund.

He disclosed that he paid the party house rent for two years and provided some plastic chairs in the local government party office, prior to the commencement of his journey to contest.

According to him, people are still suffering in APGA even though it is the ruling party in the state and attributed it to selfishness on the part of the representatives of the people.

He commended Governor Willie Obiano for his infrastructural development of the state, adding that he has touched the souls of the people through improvement in security, agriculture, roads, education, among others.

He expressed dissatisfaction that posts were given to those who did not work for the party, pointing out that he has not been elected to serve his people yet has been able to perform wonders, which goes to show that if elected the performance would be doubled.
